Certain Categories Not Being Backed-up Even though Selected

I have a WD Smartware My Passport, 1.1.0.7.

I set it to back-up all categories with a continuous back-up and I always keep the drive plugged in. Once I set it up, I never changed anything.

Today I went to retrieve a file (a htm document) and I discovered that the drive has not backed-up this type of file for over a year.

It is backing up other types of files and doing it continuously. I checked and recent jpg (picture) files were all backed-up.

I pulled up the back-up and looked at the detailed view. You can see it here:

or here WD Smartware

The “Documents” and “Other” categories are selected, but it’s not backing them up. Those two categories do not have a date beside them and are in a different color than the categories that are being backed-up.

_ What’s going on here and how do I fix it? _

Hello,

I recommend that you uninstall WD Smartware, restart the computer and then reinstall WD Smartware latest version.

How to uninstall WD SmartWare Version 2.2.x and earlier from Windows (8, 7, Vista, or XP) and Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7)

How to install WD Smartware latest version.

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have the time to try it tomorrow. Will let you know if it works.

I removed my original WDSmartware and restarted my PC. Then I downloaded the latest version you linked, unzipped the files and tried installing it.

The install got stuck
Installing WD SmartWare
SmartWare Packagex86

Installing SES driver

It got stuck at this point:

So I canceled the install. Then I tried to install it again. It won’t let me. No matter how many times I click on it, it won’t start the install.

So then I tried to delete the file so I can re-download it and the file won’t let me delete it.

So then I tried to rewrite the file by unzipping the files again and I get a message “Password needed File ‘WD SmartWare Installer.exe’ is password protected. Please enter the password in the box below.”

Except I don’t know the password because I never put a password on it.

Now I’m worse off than I was when I first posted because when I first posted at least most of my files were being backed-up. Now none of my files are being backed up since I removed WDSmartware from my computer.

EDIT:

So without being able to remove the current file, I went back to the page you linked and redownloaded from the page. Then I unzipped the file, but when I click on the unzipped file (WDSmartware Installer.exe) it still will not start the install process. I click on it and briefly the WDSmartware logo shows (the head with the gears) in the folder, but the install never starts.

So now I can’t even put WDSmartware on my PC, and have a completely useless external hard drive that I can’t use for back-up and can’t access.
