Hi all
Using macbook pro and yosemite.
I had to reformat the drive to be able to backup with time machine.
So I have an annoying little problem. When I try move files inside the drive by dragging them around, they are automatically copies instead of moved, as if I was dragging them to another drive and not just a folder inside the same drive.
I have never experienced this and wonder what this problem might be?
Thanks a lot
E
What happens if you manually cut and paste your files with your mouse or keyboard instead of dragging folders? Are the files still copied instead of moved?
Hi!
Thanks a lot for getting back to me!
Might be a really stupid qusetions but how do I cut something in Finder?
It seems like it doesn’t do this when I move a file from a folder to the root folder, then it just moves it. So it might be that it’s only when moving files from the root folder to a sub folder that it creates a copy instead of moves it.
Also, do you know how to turn off the thing that makes me type in the password every time I wanna do something in the root folder?
Thanks so much!
[Command (⌘) + X] will cut files instead of copying them.
The root folder requires permissions for security in wireless mode. It will not ask them if you connect the uni via USB.
