Can't find solution anywhere for My Passport Ultra 2TB

I was watching a movie using my hard drive, when it suddenly froze. My hard drive was never the same after that. My macbook air still recognizes it, when I open it all folders are there, but inside it the files are gone or are slow to appear. When it does appear I try to transfer them to a new hard drive but is slow to transfer and eventually would show an error. I tried repairing it in Disk Utility, I tried downloading software recovery apps but it freezes and crashes all of them including Finder, I also tried switching the cables. Is there a solution, where in I can recovery the files? Its still all there but can’t be transferred.

Hello

You can try to use data recovery softwares mentioned in the link below to recover your data:

For more troubleshooting, Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

Data recovery from a hard drive that appears to be bad will not be a straight-forward data recovery. On healthier storage media you simply recover the data in a go. You can try Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery since it can create a disk image (.dmg) file and from this DMG you can restore the data. However, if your drive has a physical damage then I am afraid that data recovery tool will not work as it should work. You can try the demo in your case. Good Luck
