As per the SanDisk recommendation I purchased some 16GB Ultra CF cards, when I put them into the camera it formatted them to 8GB (possibly the maximum capacity of the camera firmware). The Camera will recognize them as 16GB if I do not format them in the camera.

Now for some reason I cannot get my PC to recognize them as 16GB anymore. Is there some way to format these cards to restore the full capacity?

this happens with a lot of older canon cameras. to fix the card do a google search for “HP disk storage format tool” download that and use it to format the card. it will return them to their original capacity.

Thank you, this program has fixed the problem.

I would recommend that SanDisk add a note to their site to advise customers that card capacities > 8GB cannot be formatted by the camera.
