I recently installed Unbuntu 11.04 and deleted Windows XP. I cannot get my external hard drive to work. I’ve tried downloading the files from WD for Mac. I’ve also tried Wine, a windows program opener, and still cannot open the unlocker. I am BRAND NEW to linux and I’m not sure what step to take next. I have also attempted to find the answer on this forum, with no luck. Thank you for your help in advance.
Linux isn’t a supported OS for these drives.

what Joe is saying is that in order to use the unlocker, you must install smartware to set the password. smartware is only available for windows and mac os’s. that doesn’t mean you can just use the drive though. you should be able to use the drive on your linux machine. however, if you have the drive locked with a password, you will need to remove the password to use the drive on with linux. that can only be done on a windows/mac computer.
