Can the battery be changed when it no longer recharges????

I was about to order a Sansa Clip + but was concerned when I read a user review that said if the battery no longer recharges, that you have to throw the device away and buy a new one.

IS THIS TRUE???

Is there an MP3 player with a removable battery? I’ve had my Clip for 6 years now and battery is as strong as ever.

I found this site quite a while back. http://anythingbutipod.com Great Sandisk forum section. Mutliple take apart pages with plenty of pics. Here’s one: http://anythingbutipod.com/2007/11/sandisk-sansa-clip-disassembled

It says the Clip is not glued together and can be pried apart. IIRC batteries are same as in iPod Nano. If I ever have to replace mine I’ll go with a higher Ah battery for longer runtime.

Typically, yes. As with just about all mp3 players these days, not just the Clip+ or Sansa models.

Having said that though, there are some adventurous souls that have managed to replace the battery in theirs. Note it is not easy and may not be worth the trouble if you break something else while doing it.

I thank you both, Timmay and Tapeworm, for  your excellent and informed replies.

I shall proceed with the purchase; AND save the links you provided.

If I get 6 years on the rechargeable, I will be delighted and consider my money well spent!

Thanks much for you info on this.
