I’ve got a 256GB SanDisk SD card lying around and was wondering if it’s possible (or even practical) to use it as a Time Machine backup drive for my MacBook Air. I know external HDDs or SSDs are the usual choices, but since this SD card is pretty fast, I thought it might work for smaller, incremental backups. Has anyone here actually tried this setup? Are there any file system or reliability issues I should watch out for before formatting it for Time Machine? Thanks in advance!
@Moon77789 Memory Cards are not designed for TimeMachine type backups. Stick with external SSD drives.

No. SD cards are more suitable for short-term backups. Dedicated external HDDs or SSDs are far superior for reliable Time Machine use. The storage capacity of the Time Machine backup drive needs to have at least twice the storage capacity of your Mac. For example, if your Mac has 512GB of storage, your backup disk should have at least 1.3TB of storage.
