Can I password protect an unprotected WD External Hard Drive?

I have a 1TB external hard drive that is not password protected but I would like to secure with a password does anyone know if it’s possible to do it please? If not can anyone recommend any simple software to install? Cheers Tony.

Hey, depending on the model of your password, you can either use WD Security or WD Smartware, can you share your model number?

Downloaded the WD Security but it doesn’t recognise the hard drive keeps asking me to connect a device.
