Can I drag & drop into Passport without having to go back and manually remove the files from my internal drive afterwards?

If I drag files to a new folder on my internal drive, they disappear from the old folder, but when I drag them to a new folder on my WD external drive, I then have to go back and remove them manually. This is aggravating, especially if some files do not copy because they have the same names as those in my WD folder, since I have to examine them one by one to see which ones did not copy.

That’s an operating system function. Has nothing to do with WD specific drives.

If you’re using Windows, Hold SHIFT while you drag and drop will force a move instead of copy.

Duplicate names are another thing. You’ll have the same issue with either a move or copy.

Thank you!

I gave up on drag and drop and added move to and copy to the the right click menu. This is what I used in the past http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-copy-to-move-to-on-windows-vista-right-click-menu/
