Bricked SA510 Blue Firmware Update Problem

Hello,

Not massively computer literate, please forgive me.

My SA510 has bricked, after much research I came across this fix: Recovering WD SA510 Firmware 5215100 · GitHub

Managed to get to the firmware update process, (quite pleased with myself this far), and the software reports “update failed Firmware cannot be unpacked”.

The firmware update has been tried with usb to sata cable, (update failed), and is now currently connected direct to motherboard. (update failed).

WD Dashboard recognises the drive connected via usb to sata, but update firmware fails, and does not recognise the drive when connected direct to the motherboard.

I’m not bothered about getting data back, I’ve lost the receipt so cannot do RMA, so just hoping someone has a fix for “update failed Firmware cannot be unpacked”

Thank you for reading.

Jason.

maybe you should get backup hard disk

If the SSD is problematic it may need to be replaced

If you have the possibility, try connecting the drive to another SATA port on your motherboard. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.

192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1

I also suggest a USB SATA box to be able to test the SSD on a secondary machine. Such boxes cost maybe $25 to $30 and I use an older one.
