I have a WD My Passport Ultra, and have been using it to backup my files. But I have some questions regarding the backing up of files and managing them.

I noticed there are few options on the frequency of backup. Currently mine is using the default option which is it will automatically backup anything whenever I add or change any file in the designated folders. If I change the settings to a selected time eg 8pm daily, if the drive is not connected at that point of time, will it still backup after I plugged in the drive after the selected time eg 10pm. Or it will try to backup again on the next day 8pm?

My files on my computer are kind of messy and I will like to rearrange them again. I am wondering if I rearrange these files into different folders or new folders, will WD My Passport Ultra create duplicates again in these different folders or new folders? The old copies that are in the WD My Passport Ultra will still remains right? It will only backup but will not synchronized between computer and WD My Passport Ultra drive? So any advise on how to rearrange or re-manage all my folders and files, as I do not want duplicates all over in my computer and drive. Any advise on best practices to do this?

Is it better to use the “automatic” backup option whereby it instantly backup any files you change or add; or better to use the “daily scheduled” backup option? I noticed when using the “automatic” option, the light on the portable drive will keep flashing even though I am not doing anything. And with this option, with the drive plugged in, will it consumes the battery of the computer/notebook?
