Wow. I have been waiting for these to drop a bit before buying my next unit- but they keep going up! A week or two ago the balck 8 was under $80 and the silver was a bit over $80. And I think those prices were up a bit from the previous year.

I wouldn’t expect them to drop, actually…now that the word is out that they are discontinued, and the Fuze+ has drawn some complaints about its controls, sellers will probably try to make more money on their Fuzes. My V1 works great, and my V2 that I got from a buddy is a refurb, but if you didn’t se the word refurb on the back, you’d swear it was new. So I won’t have to worry for a while…I just hope they don’t discontinue the Clip+!

I’ve been dealing with Ama-zon since about the first day they were open for business, and I’ve noticed a steep, steady decline in both their overall service and pricing. They (and their sales partners) are notorious for increasing prices on almost any no-longer in production item; hoping that they can get some extra $$ from customers that really want the items.
Personally, I would look elsewhere. Not that I’m in the least interested for my self, but I did notice that my local Wally World had a couple 8GB fuzes on clearance for $49 a week or so ago. I’m sure if you look hard enough you can find a decent price for one, somewhere, also.
thanks FOGB
I actually never heard that they were officially being discontinued.
I’ll check wally-world.
Mine is still great after two years but battery is starting to suffer and I want to make sure I have a backup on hand.
The 4 GB Fuze is only $58 on Amazon. Paying $57 more just to get 4 GB more of storage when the player has a card slot seems silly. A 4GB Fuze plus a 16 GB microSDHC card for it is much less expensive than the 8 GB Fuze on Amazon. I predict the 4 GB Fuze price on Amazon will soon rise quite a bit, and the price of the Fuze will soon rise quite a bit on other websites, I guess the supply of new(not refurbished) Fuzes is shrinking rapidly.

Good deals still can be had out there…Just stay away from greedy merchants like amazon…
The 4 gB plus and microSD may be a better deal per gB, but even if it’sonly 4 gB, that’s a lot more mem in addition to the 16 gB card. Plus, the more I have on the device, the shorter that refresh is coming from the card. Plus Voice Record only goes to the on-board mem so need to leave enough space for flexibility there.
Looks like I better get busy and find a deal on the 8gB before they disappear.
I guess you missed this thread I started?

I think the cheapest price now on a new black 8 GB Fuze is $85 at B&H Photo with free shipping.
I would rather pay under $60 and get a 4 GB Fuze instead.

Now if you could only predict when the stocks I own are going to go up, I’d be a happy man. :smileyvery-happy:
Those sellers wouldn’t charge such high prices unless there’s someone out there willing to pay that price. I saw an Altec Lansing im413 (only one left), after it was discontinued the first time, selling for almost $300, and someone purchased it!
Looking through the fuzes available on Amazon, the silver 8gb fuzes are more reasonably priced…for now anyway.

Looks like you’re not trying too hard. Like I said before, I found 8GB Fuzes at my local Wally World for $49; and I wasn’t even looking for them! Getting a good deal isn’t always as simple as sitting at your computer screen and surfing away. Rewards often benefit to those who try the hardest.

On the other hand, I could go out, drive 25 miles, spend a hour walking around a number of stores and NOT find what I’m looking for. Unless you’re out in these stores regularly anyhow, the 'net is still the better bet.
My 2 cents & worth every penny,
Bob

eBay: new, not refurb, 4GB for $40, shipped.

Or one can always call the store and ask for a price and availability. That can save alot of wear and tear on your car…and you.

A bit off topic; but I loved getting these type of phone calls for hard to get, or in demand items when I was in retail. Often times we wouldn’t even look to see if they were in stock because we knew they would fly off the shelves whether the person on the other end of the phone came into the store or not. I realize that it wasn’t the greatest of customer service, but when you are working 12 hour days with a very limited staff …sometimes you do anything possible to get a person off the phone, just so you can fight the fires you are dealing with, at that instant.
Anyhooo. Hope all that are looking for fuzes will find them at decent prices. For me, that ship has sailed. I’m extremely pleased with my Fuze+ and my assorted assembly of iPods and probably wouldn’t accept a fuze, even if it was given to me as a gift. Good luck all…
The 8 GB fuze in black is shown as $79 but out of stock on Walmart’s website. The $49 8GB Fuze in the store is probably a refurb or open box special. Plenty of places sell a used or refurbished 8 GB Fuze in black for under $50. I am talking about new, factory sealed players, not refurbs or open box specials.

Incorrect. Walmart’s website and stores are two seperate things. One doesn’t mirror the other as far as products and prices.
The unit’s I saw at my local store were new, unopened units.
I think this thread has run it’s course. Argue away of what you want to pay for a fuze, where the best prices are and so on. I just know for a fact that good deals still can be had on brand new units if you step away from the computer for 30 seconds.

Just a note, all the high prices on Fuzes on Amazon do not appear to be from Amazon themselves, but the 3rd party sellers that sell through Amazon. Amazon does not seem to be selling any of these directly that I could find. People do get greedy, but I have never found Amazon themselves to be guilty of that. Always look to see who the actual seller is when looking on Amazon. I will not but through any 3rd party seller there, only from Amazon themselves.

Good point . . . if it’s one of Amazon’s ‘partner’ sellers, I would expect the prices to maybe be a bit more since they have to pay Amazon’s fee (commission) in order to list and sell there.
Personally though, I’ve bought a couple things and have had nothing but good experience with those I’ve dealt with. I think Amazon has a bit more control or strigent requirements for these sellers as opposed to say, eBay.

It’s always a good idea to see who the seller actually is. And what their return policy is also. Whenever possible, I purchase items that are sold by Amazon itself since I don’t have to pay postage to return an item if it is defective whereas with third-party sellers, I may have to. So far, I haven’t had any problems with third-party sellers.
As for pricing, there is a list of other sellers on the right-hand side of the webpage, which allows a person to compare prices from different sellers and to be able to purchase the item from one of them.
