30 day free trial?

I just purchased an Elements Portable (2TB) and which includes a 30 day trial of WD SmartWare Pro. I’m following the instructions on the “Read Me” pdf and am stuck here:

  1. Click Download on the WD SmartWare dialog to open the WD SmartWare Pro Free 30-day Trial page on the WD Store website.

  2. Click Free 30-day Trial to display the WD Service & Support download page.

I’ve clicked download on the WD SmartWare but don’t see the WD SmartWare Pro Free 30-day Trial page. Hoping that installing the WD SmartWare program would bring up the Free 30 Day Trial page but instead it’s asking for an activation code.

I want to try the SmartWare Pro program before buying it. How do I get the 30 day free trial to work?

WD Smartware Pro is end of life and the 30 day trial and software purchase are no longer available. We would suggest using and alternate 3rd party product like Acronis True Image. Various 3rd party backup software can be found in the knowledge base article linked below.
