The drive is about 6 months old. Just today I plugged it in, it spun up, lights on, but didn’t show up in Finder. Tried other USB port, same thing. Eventually, after jiggling the cable, it worked. Is the cable at fault or is it more likely the connection on the drive itself?
What’s frustrating is that I have a 3-5 year old WD passport, in the older form-factor and it’s still running fine. Now I have this fickle piece of ■■■■ I’m afraid to use.
It could be either. If you’ve got it working get anything important off it that isn’t backed up elsewhere. You can try contacting customer service they might send you a new cable. If not I think it’s a Micro USB 2.0
