Gave the cable to a friend, he tried at home with his WD drive and USB3, it works
We tried his WD drive on my computer USB3, it works
We tried my WD drive with his cable on my USB3, it works.
We go back to my WD drive and my cable on my computer, and works 50% of time(ish). So it might be the cable, although it seems having successfully attached another USB3 drive once improves the chances my USB3 drive will work
When it doesnt work, the drive light is on and the drive is running, just does appear on the computer…like what many others appear to see at the moment…I am very interested to see where this issues leads to…
Where can I get a new WD USB cable? or can I use any cable?
Not sure if the funny shaped connector on the Drive is “standard” or WD specific.
I´m very dissapointed with my WXD1AA0X1475 WDBABM0010BSL-NESN.
It´s a 1Tb external disk and it gave me problems since the begining, but I tried to use it any way, I thought my pc was the problem, but now in the wd page I found this:
?)." that means, if you have drivers problems with it, replace it" just when the warranty expired. I know theres nothing to do, but I´m pretty sure about this… I will never buy a wd product again.
Contact WD if the drive is still in warranty they will probably send you a new cable. Also make sure all of your USB drivers are up to date. The transition to USB 3 has been a bit bumpy.
