I have a Wireless Pro that often when I connect via USB to my Macs the Wifi turns on/stays on and I cannot see the drive in Finder. Usually disconnecting and reconnecting a few times eventually gets Wifi to turn off and the drive shows in Finder but it can take several tries. I didn’t see anything in the manual about this issue nor was I able to find anything on this forum by search. I’ve tried a few different USB cables and 2 separate Macs - same issue. Any help would be much appreciated!
If I connect my MPW to my PC, the device is always off, so there is no way for the wi-fi to be on or stay on. Try that.
Even when the device is off before I connect it, often the wifi will turn on as soon as I connect it to my Mac.
One thing that might cause this (or so I’ve heard) is if you’re using a Charge-Only cable to connect. In that way, the MPW thinks its just hooked up to the power supply and the unit will operate autonomously.
So try another USB data cable.
I’ve tried 3 separate USB cables so far, one was sent to me by WD support after reporting this issue. Sounds like I may need to contact support again.
