Windows 7 won't boot with drive attached

I have a new My Book 8 TB drive. When trying to start my PC, windows 7 won’t start with the drive attached to the PC (the screen stays blank). If I disconnect the drive from the PC, it starts fine. The drive has nothing on it but music files (nothing at all related to windows or system backup). Anyone ever see this? Any ideas?

sounds like you need to disable usb booting in your system bios. or set usb to a lower priority

Many Thanks lordmage and SBrown, Looks like reformatting the drive with NTFS format is the solution. It’s not as easy to get to Drive Management as the tutorial makes it appear since microsoft has relocated it, but after searching around I found it. It must be that all my other previous WD drives came already in that format since I never had to do this before with the others. Thanks again.
