Why has My Book stopped accepting files copied from other drive?

I bought a USB 3.0 My Book for my WinXP setup so I could move large, rarely-used files off the D drive (inside the tower). For months, this worked fine. Recently I did an inventory of which files were taking up the most space on my D drive. Most are FLAC or WAV music files. I decided to move all of those from the D to the My Book and only keep MP3 music files on the D. But the files refuse to copy. I can drag and drop, or I can select a music files then select copy, then go to the music folder on the My Book and click paste. Nothing happens. No sounds of hard drive activity; nothing. I’ve tried restarting and running the checkdisk utility with both boxes checked thinking maybe there was a bad sector. No problem. I’ve defragmented and made sure at least 20% of each drive was free and open (the My Book actually has 75% free). I’ve run the most recent (1.5.4.5) versions of the WD Smartware tools. Still no file copy. I give up. What’s the secret password?

Can you copy the same files from your D elsewhere?

Maybe you have some kind of restrictions or lag of permissions to copy those files

Based on your suggestion, I ran a test.

Tried copying an 8MB music file from the D drive to an external USB MyPassport drive (failed/nothing happened) and to my C drive (failed/nothing happened).

I’m the only person who uses this computer, and I run it on the administrator account. I have full rights. I’m open to other suggestions?

Ok, so based on this your “My Book” has nothing to do with this issue

What OS you’re running?

(failed/nothing happened).

This means…? There is no any error message?

How do you copy them? You sure that you marked files, select them and click on copy?

then right clicked on desired destination and click on paste?

Assuming this was a Microsoft Windows problem, I ran some tests in an MS forum, and have started a different WD thread based on the results. Thank you.
