I have update the firmware successfully, but when I install WD SmartWare Software Updater as mentioned on this link http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdsmartware it. Smartware doesn’t run. It says WDDM service not started. when I manually start it the version remains at version 1.1.0.2.
What should I do.:womansad:
Here are the screenshots when I complete the update

I now use Dmailer backup which (up to now) works, is more flexible than Smartware (select files to backup - not catagories!), and is free!
I’m not sure what you mean by “switch on and off” Smartware. But Smartware can be stopped (steps 2 to4 below) and started (tep 5 below) using this solution from …

solution:
To resume the backup, follow the steps below:
Open the WD SmartWare program.
Launch Windows Task Manager by pressing Control-Alt-Delete at the same time.
Choose the Applications tab.
Select WD SmartWare, and click on End Task.
After the open WD SmartWare window disappears, go to Start > Programs > WD SmartWare and click on the WD SmartWare icon to relaunch the program. Once the program relaunches, it will find the WD SmartWare drive and continue the backup
