This is my first time using the software and Im very pleased with it. However, it will not detect the 2TB drive I want to use as a destination backup. It only lets me use it as a source? How can I get the software to let me use my “Backup” drive as a destination rather than the source (which currently is the WD drive I have all my data on)?

Hello,

WD Smartware only detects WD drives as destination for the backup. However WD Smartware Pro will allow you to choose any drive as a destination for the backup.

I’d love to give you kudos, but I backed up to a seagate external (as the destination) the other day. Now this other drive won’t pop up. I doubt I would be forced to buy the pro software if it already worked once.

Hello,

It is possible you were using the 30 day trial version. Check if you still have the 30 days available. If not, then it means you already used them.
