WD Passport - wrong power adapter used

Good afternoon,

I have a WD hard drive that had a wrong power adapter connected, which caused a short circuit in the SATA to USB PCB

the hard drive itself is still turning, but is showing up as not intialized in Disk Manager.

pics of the burned PCB:

the data itself does need to be recovered in one way or another, since the end user used it as storage, rather then an actual backup

The hard drive i a WD Mybook Essentials USB3.0

PN: WDBACW0010HBK-01

the hard drive itself is a WD smartware product, but neither the smartware software or the password protection was used.

hence i thought with abit of luck i could just read the data if i connect it to a PC, unfortunatly the drive came up as not initialized

any tips or guidelines any of you could forward me too?

thank you for your time,

Signed, Sven

Hello, you might still be able to use a data recovery program like recuva or test disk, but if that doesn’t help, you might need the help of a professional data recovery company. Check the links below for more info.
