WD Passport won't mount after MacOS update

Solved I installed WD Drive Utilities and the WD MY Passport suddenly showed up on the desktop and in Finder. I used Disk Utility to erase it and reformat it and chose it again for Time Machine. Seems to be working. If not I’ll comment here.

Hi,
I’ve been using the Passport as Time Machine backup for a couple of years. Right after updating to Ventura 13.7.1 the Passport was unmounted, the last backup was done a few hours before updating the OS.

The Passport shows up in Disk Utility (inner volume is grayed out) and System Report but not in Finder and not in Terminal. First Aid runs on the Physical Disk and shows no problems but fails on the inner volume. I can’t restore, erase or mount it.

I’ve tried using Disk Utility in Recovery Mode also, no luck. I also tried mounting with Terminal but it doesn’t show up in Terminal with diskutil list.

I erased and reformatted another drive I had for Time Machine but would like to get the Passport working again. I’m limited tech-wise so please keep instructions clear and simple.
