WD Passport Ultra fails to backup if PC in sleep mode

My WD Passport Ultra fails to backup if PC in sleep mode. Backup is scheduled for 10PM every weeknight. At that time my computer is in sleep mode. Does the PC have to be awake in order for the backup to be completed?

Can you do any work if you are sleeping?

I recently purchased WD portable hard drive Windows 10 compatibile for my PC and successfully setup backup.

I have the same problem as pbiguy79 posted Nov 2015. My Passport does not back up set for 3:00am when in Sleep mode. I don’t work in Sleep mode.
