Windows 10 ha just done a big update now it dosn’t recognise and run my WD passpoer when I plug it in. It is running as I can hear the ping on connection, all my files are still there as i ran a disk recovery programme (to see) but I am unwilling to pay for recovery if I can sort this easily. The device comes up on device manager but when i plug it into another computer all i get is the WD unlock programme and nothing else as it fails to boot up.

There could be various reasons for your WD passport external drive to become unresponsive or undetected. It can be a hardware issue or some software issue.
