I recently purchased a WD Passport and formatted it to work on my Macbook Pro, which operates on OS X 10.7.5. I used it to store videos and editing files. However, while I was working on a project, my editing software began ramping up my processing. After it unexpectantly quit, the icon for the drive disappeared and signs of it failing became apparent (blinking light, clicking while it was plugged in, and not appearing in Disk Utility). Is there any way for me to fix this problem, or will I need to recover my files? If so, are there ways I can do this at home, or will I need to take it somewhere to recover them?
try another computer or another cable
if that does not work you can attempt to upgrade the firmware as a last resort
Any fix? …this happened to me today. I was transferring files to it and my Mac crashed so I had to restart it and now my hard drive isn’t showing up in disk utility/on my desktop/on finder…
