I recently bought a new laptop and use My Passport for File history backups. The problem is, every single time I connect it, it won’t let me safely eject it from the bottom-right task bar (I get an error message).
I’m on Windows 10 HP Omen.
I have tried closing down all other programs but it does nothing. The only workaround so far is to restart my PC, which is not a reasonable solution.
This appears to be an increasing problem with Windows 10 where something is preventing the drive from being safely ejected most of the time, even though all open windows and programs that were using the drive are closed. With my WD external drives, upon ejecting, the drive may take up to a minute or so to safely disconnect if something is still accessing the drive. Non-WD drives tend to display the “cannot safely eject” message right away. Strangely enough, I don’t seem to have any issues with USB flash drives.
