WD My Passport Ultra not seen by TV

Afternoon

I have a 1TB WD My Passport Ultra that Ive got loaded with DVD’s and photos copied from my Mac. Im trying to connect it to a Panasonic TV (less than a year old) but it doesn’t see the device

spoken to Panasonic who have told me it will require an external power supply before the TV can register it - question is the Passport Ultra does not have an external power supply port? is there an adapter out there that will allow me to connect an HDD external supply and connect the drive to the TV USB port at the same time

The TV USB port supplied 0.9A (900ma) - would this be sufficient to power up the HDD when its operating e.g. playing back a movie from the drive?

I have a WD My Passport Ultra 4TB USB3.0 and a WD Elements 2TB USB3.0

Both work fine on my Panasonic TH-P42ST30A (Approx 6 Years Old)

With my USB Voltage tester ,… the WD Elements 2TB only draws 0.23A (230mA) See Picture

WD My Passport Ultra 4TB is a little higher … but works fine.

What format is your HDD ? Mine are NTFS with GPT Partition Style (MBR works fine too)

Also, you say “DVDs” are they VOB files ? cus my Panasonic TV does not support that file extension (sure, it’s supports MPEG-2 which is the codec in a DVD VOB). Page 91
