Hi,
I have a MacBook Air and my Passport won’t let me add new files to it. I’ve never had this problem before; I can open the files I have on the Drive, but cannot alter them. I used to have a PC and used the drive for that as well. It worked fine before for both of the computers.
Any help?
Hello, check how the Passport is formatted, for what you are describing it seem that it is formatted for Windows only (NTFS), you can see how the Passport is formatted by clicking on “get info” while connected to a Mac or right click properties when connected to Windows PC.

Hi,
The format reads: “Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled).” I tried to reformat the drive using Backup. I deleted my old files from the drive in the process and placed them all on my Mac. Then, I used Backup to save all of my files but it still would not work. I still cannot place my files into it.
If possible you can also try connecting the Passport to another Mac to see if the same problem happens, you can also follow the steps from the link below to format the Passport from the Disk Utility.

I’m having the same problem. The Mac thinks the drive is read-only. It won’t even let me change permissions. This drive worked fine until yesterday. I moved it to another computer and it still is read-only. I changed the cable; no joy. What could possibly have changed from yesterday?
