I have 2 WD My Passport 320 GB external harddrive that won’t show up on my Macbook pro. I haven’t used them for 6 months or so, but i have a lot of important data on them. When i connect with USB, the light comes on on the harddrive, but no sound from them, and they don’t show up on my mac at all. Exactly the same for them both. Checked in disk utility and they don’t show up there either. Have tried different cables, same result. Is it worth trying one of those micro to Double USB to give more power? Or should i leave them in for some time and see if they show up eventually? Please come up with advice.
Hi, be sure to use the USB cable that came with the passports, since a longer USB cable will cause power inconsistencies, also avoid using USB hubs. If that doesn’t work the drives might be faulty.
