WD My Book Studio: gauge not displayed anymore after WD SmartWare uninstalled

Hi,

I got a brand new My Book Studio.

I first installed WD SmartWare, to change the drive’s gauge label.

Then I uninstalled it, 'cause I didn’t like it to be always loaded, and I didn’t know if it would interfere with Time Machine or not.

After the next reboot, the drive’s gauge and label disappeared.

I reinstalled WD SmartWare, rebooted, and the gauge + label reappeared.

I uninstalled WD SmartWare again, rebooted, and the gauge + label disappeared again.

So, do I have no other choice than keeping WD SmartWare installed, to have my drive’s gauge + label displayed ? :neutral_face:

The gauge on the My Book Studio drive only works when WD Smartware is installed on the computer if you uninstall the software the the capacity gauge will always stop working

Ok thanks, and do you know if SmartWare somehow interferes with Time Machine ?

Hi

WD Smartware doesn’t interferes with time machine, you can install Smartware just to have the capacity gauge working and run your backup using Time Machine :smiley:
