I’m having problems my my 1 tb My Book. It is something new and it consists of the thing hanging my PC when its under moderate use - like running a virus check on it or quickly switching video files or scanning through a video using the drag bar. Its an older model and I never had any problems until I upgraded my video card recently. Is there any correlation or is the device just wearing out.
maybe its not the dirve, tried in a different computer to verify, also check the disk for errors
I got a copy of HD Tune and ran a check on it and everything seems to be in the green except an ultra dma crc error count of 1 with a warning the the cable maybe be bad. I’ve tried another cable but it made no difference.
As for another computer, I’m currently using it on my laptop and it seems stable. Any Ideas as to why it is now unstable on my desktop when all I did was change the video card?
Try deleting the driver for the external in Device Manager,disconnect drive reboot system and reconnect drive. That shold load a fresh driver. One more thing to try on desktop. power down then unplug power the desktop for about 10 min. Sometimes this resets BIOS.
