Hello, please tell me how to enable encryption, I can not find it. spent a lot of time and could not find the declared function of encryption. Thanks in advance. I apologize for my poor English.
The hardware encryption comes form the circuit board where the USB port is attached. There is no enable or disable it’s automatic. This has nothing to dp with setting a password.

Windows 7 SP1, all updates, all the latest drivers, new firmware 1.015 and WD Smartware (1.4.5.2). Bought the device for hardware-based encryption (as specified in the advertisement).
I explained this in my other post or are you talking about setting a password? Even if no password is used the data is hardware encrypted. If you take the drive apart and hook to PC and manage to get data off it will be useless because it is encrypted by the circuit board.

Hey Joe,
What can I do now that my USB 3.0 connection has one small pin broken and will not work - if i plug the hard drive into my motherboard via SATA i assume it wont work due to the PCB encryption. Can i contact WD and ask them for a new circuit board?

As far as I know, WD Does not sell circuit board or any other part of a drive.
