WD My Book Elite - Firmware update fail... HELP!

Really hope someone can help me. I finally installed the software for my book harddrive today and it seems it’s the worst thing i could of ever done.

It asked me to do a firmware update and before hand everything was working fine. As soon as it completed I did what it said to do and for some reason it just stopped showing in my computer. I tried plugging it into my mac also but it’s now showing up on there either.

I really need the files on this hard drive as it has photos of my Grandfather who just passed away. I really need to fix this but don’t even know what to do. Is it possible to rollback the firmware?

Not possible to rollback the firmware

one of the reasons that you are instructed  to backup the data before doing updates is to avoid problems if something happens

you can try updating the firmware again

Sorry to hear that SteveCFC, as Wizer said before you can try installing the firmware update again, but first you can also check if the my book is recognized on the disk management if you have windows or the disk utility if you have a Mac.

I have tried both of the above and it’s not working. I normally do have it backed up but this is the second WD hard drive that has had problems in a few weeks.
