WD My Book Duo on Mac -- confirmation needed

Hello all,

I’m about to click buy on a My book Duo and I would like to double check with the community that my understanding is correct:

• i will be able to use it with Mac once the drives are reformatted AND
• i will be able to use RAID 1 on Mac AND
• i will be able to use Time machine (and use as regular storage by manually placing files as per http://www.howtogeek.com/212445/how-to-use-a-time-machine-drive-for-both-file-storage-and-backups/ (quick and dirty option) AND
• I will be able to use the drive without WD software once setup is completed

Are all of the above true?

Hi, you are correct in all of them, however you will need to use the WD Drive utilities to change the RAID and the format on the drive.

When we say RAID we talk about hardware raid or software? Just to confirm.

I am not one hundred percent sure, but I think is software RAID, you might want to contact support they should be able to provide you that information.
