can someone please help my wd external hard drive is not reading on laptop but when you go into devices and connected devices it says its working properly
The Device Manager and the Devices and Printers/Connected Devices will serve to identify a link between the system and the device in question. Data/storage volumes are handled separately within Disk Management.
