WD External Hard Drive does not show all of my files stored!

My WD external hard drive(1TB) does not show all of my files stored. And the one which it shows says the file is corrupt. I am less worried about the movies or music files but my personal files are very very important. Please help.

Hello,

If the computer is saying that some files are corrupted, I’ll recommend you, to use a data recovery software to see if you can get some of the files out of the drive. You should be able to find a free data recovery software online.

Once you do that, I’ll recommend you to test the drive with the WD DLG Tool to see if is a sectors issue or just a virus that corrupted the data.

Xander488,

If the unit is unfortunately not showing all the files due to signs of data corruption, then enabling the option to see hidden files and folders along with protected system files under Folder Options in the Control Panel can allow for more files to be seen. This is because data corruption can alter file properties.
