Hi, I have a WD Elements 8 TB desktop USB drive, It goes to “sleep” by spinning down after what seems like only 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity, I have my OneDrive folder saved on there so it is accessed pretty often and I’m often waiting for it to spin up again. Not the end of the world but it’s kind of a pain. Also, I’m sure it’d be better for it to run longer than spin up and down every 10 minutes or so. I’d rather it spin down after about an hour of inactivity. Is there a way I can control this? I set the windows power parameters for the hard drive to go to sleep after 60 minutes but it had no effect. There doesn’t seem to be any utility program for the Elements desktop drive, I found a WD utilities for Windows program and installed it but it just says to attach a supported drive so I guess it’s not meant for mine. I’ve heard of a “keep alive” program that will write something small to the drive every minute or so but it seems like there must be a better way?
Thanks for any insight,
Eric
