When the elements is plugged into computer, it can be found in the Device Manager named ‘WD Elements 1078 USB Device’, but does not appear in the Disk management.
When it is plugged, sounds like ‘zi…ta’ can be listened for five times, and no more noises apears. It seems like that the driver is not runing well, maybe at a low speed.
Which parts of my driver may be broken.

It sounds like your hard drive is dead. Can you still feel the vibration of the drive when the noise stop?
No, at the begining, I can not feel the vibration too.
This hard disk worked well several days ago, after travelling from one city to another by train, it does not work. During the trip, it is put in my boot.
if no vibration after 10-15 seconds. Then it is dead. WD Elements 1078, sounds like an old device.
I bought it in 2015, as a portable hard disk, it did not work for a long time. And what may cause such a problem?
My another disk is dropped down when it is running ,although it is broken, I can feel its vibration and it can be recongnized by the computer.

Can you try it on different USB port or computer see if the symptom still exists? Either the drive is dead or it is not getting enough power.
