hello, i have a question about temps on WD Blue SN580 SSDs, both models, 1TB and 2TB, have in HWINFO64 three temperatures. one is about 40-45C, one is between 35-40C and the third one is in idle always above 60C. i have to use additional fan to cool it down, without it, the SSDs go above 70C. it goes above 50C right from the start of the computer. if i copy something, or updating games, it goes above 80C.
is this normal, and safe temperature?? i also have Samsung T7 Shield external SSDs and there are also three temps, all of them are 30-45C depending if idle or copying. but no one above 50C or even 60C
Yeah, those temps do sound a bit high—especially if it’s going over 60°C at idle and hitting 80°C during normal tasks like copying or updates. SSDs can usually handle up to 85°C, but staying that hot for long isn’t great for the drive’s health.
Using a fan helps for now, but maybe also check for any firmware updates or airflow issues in your setup. If nothing changes, I’d suggest raising a support ticket with SanDisk, just to be sure everything’s okay with the drive.
