WD Backup.exe Installs & Prompts To Schedule A Backup, But Doesn't Actually Install (not listed in programs list etc.)

I am in the process of installing WD Drives on nine company computers, The following problem is occurring and I cannot find a solution:

Windows 10 OS

I installed the WD Discovery & Utilities software. I then attempted to install the WD Backup program. The screen prompt shows the Backup program (wdbackup.exe) installing. It then appears to complete installation and I am prompted to start a backup and pick a schedule. When I try to create a backup, the program not only doesn’t show that a WD Drive is connected to computer, it also doesn’t show an icon for Dropbox. However, opening the WD Discovery program devices tab clearly shows the WD Drive connected.

I tried installing the backup program from the WD website AND from the offline files folder on the drive and had exactly the same results each time.

When I opened the computer control panel programs section, it doesn’t even show WD Backup as a program that has been installed on the computer. WD Discovery is listed, but backup is not.

Restarting the computer did not fix this problem.

No matter how many times I try to install the Backup program -and get a ‘backup installed successfully’ type screen, it does not install on the computer.

This is happening on more than one computer.

Any help appreciated.
