Vista and M230: Registry damaged

I suspect this is because of my removal of Norton Anti-virus. However, I used Norton’s recommended “Norton Removal Tool”. Now when I try to upload, I get this:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click ‘Check for solutions’ to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

Apparently, there are no solutions from Microsoft.

I am running an Acer Aspire 3690-2970 with Windows Vista Basic.

I’m having the exact same problem with my m250. I installed Norton 360 which uninstalled my previous Norton application and now I am getting registry errors. Would love to know how to fix it!

Did some research and got it to work. Here’s how I did it.

  1. Press windows key+Pause Break. This will bring you into a window called “System”
  2. Go into Device Manager.
  3. Plug your sansa into your computer.
  4. Expand “portable devices”
  5. View properties of Sansa m2XX
  6. Uninstall it.
  7. Unplug your Sansa.
  8. Plug it in and watch Vista reinstall it.

It should work from this point on.

Thanks! Works fine now. I can’t believe that’s all it took…I was at the right screen for an hour last night and never thought to uninstall it!

Thanks so much!  :smileyvery-happy:
