Very New To "My Passport Ultra". I Know Just Enought To Be Dangerous

IT friends say I know just enough to be dangerous. That’s why I’m here. My situation is as follows.
I am 66 and wife and I have 2 laptops hers is W-10 and mine is W-7. I bought 2 My Passports Ultras 1tb and put 1 on each computer to use as a back-up and they MAY be working but I’m just not sure. I have never really backed up before so I figured it was time. I set them to both to back up (I think)…

I would like to format them both Ultras and see if I can use only 1 to back up both computers, and use the other one as Memory for my soon to buy DVR. Can I do this or do you need more information.

Hello,

You may use one drive in order to backup both computers. I dont see any issues there. For the second part, the only issue I see is the DVR USB port. It has to supply enough power for the Passport to spin up properly. So I recommend you test it (If possible) before you buy it.
