USB Write Algorithm

Is there a write algorith built into the USB drives.   Flash memory can only be written to so many times.  Utilizing a round robin write method will extend the life of the device.   Does Sandisk use any system to do this?

This USB stick is a flash drive. It’s not something mechanical. I would say you can do a write/erase on it and still get the best quality of it.

To which you reply

You are either not reading what people post or have no understanding of what they post.

I’m sure that they do use some sort of load balancing algorithm; anyone manufacturing a flash drive would, otherwise you would have a much shorter lifespan for the drive as flash sectors started to fail after they were erased/overwritten too many times.

The details are most likely proprietary, and probably not of much concern to the user since it is at such a low level.

Is there a particular reason you are asking?
