USB 3.0 problem

Hi everybody,

ok, I got Passport My Passport Essential (USB 3.0) (WDBACY5000ABK-00), it is brand new, just opend it, I got it as replacement for my old one that broke. Also I got new computer that now has USB 3.0 and I have problems using USB 3.0. If drive is connected to 2.0 port, works perfectly fine, but if I connect it to 3.0 everytime I try to copy something to/from drive, even small text files, it will show me error that drive is disconnected or there is write protection. As I said, on 2.0 port there are no problems works perfect. Any solutions? I havn’t tried on other machine than mine, I will do that in few days to see if it is problem with my computer, but wondering did anybody experienced this error?

It sounds like the problem is in the USB 3.0. Try updating all of the drivers in that line from USB controler to USB 3.0 port. If the USB 3.0 comes from a card try and indetify the maker and check their site for updates.

If it helps. I have ASUS G74SX-TH71 laptop. Everything is up to date (BIOS, drivers), I’ve also updated WD Smartware software and firmware on drive. So everything is up to date.
