Upgrade/add a flash card on e250

okay so I have an old sansa e250 and it has a flash card slot to expand its 2gb storage . . . it does not recognize a 32 GB card. I downsized the card to 1954 MB using disk part, but still, the e250 does not recognize it. What is the max capacity of that card slot? 1GB? 2? do i need to buy a flash card of that size or can I make this 32gb card work? Thank you
