Unable to select my d drive to back up

first of all i would say it worked before the first time i backup my files it worked, my pc had some problem and after sending it for service my com was formatted/restore to factory setting so all data was gone. so i went and retreive my data from " My Passport" after retreiving data and i have some new data too so i deciede to use " WD Drive Utilities" to delete all the data from " My Passport" before i start my backup. After i delete all my data and start my backup i realise i cant select my d drice to back up but my c drive is fine why is this happening??

What program are you trying to use to backup your files? Have you also tried to copy files manually to the my passport?

i use the WD SmartWare program that came along with the my passport and i do not want to just copy manually as i wanted to save space, using the WD SmartWare program the files will get somehow compressed so i could save some space on the my passport to store some other files that i will use more often for the manually coping part that u suggested

The manual copy test was just to check if the passport was working fine. :wink:. Just in case smartware doesn’t compress the files in any way. If the Passport is being recognized fine by the computer and you have smartware installed, try going to the smartware home tab and click on the passport icon if you can see it, if not uninstall smartware and reinstall the latest version, check the link below.

currently trying to install microsoft .net framework first before i try to reinstall the latest version

after installing microsoft .net framework and reinstalling wd smartware it worked, most likely it is because i didnt install microsoft .net framework thats why it didnt work
