Unable to detect in "my computer"

I’m using MY passport ultra external harddisk, my system is detecting in the “device drivers and printers” section but i’m unable to see the drive in “My computer”. The data in it is very important. I used “WD drive utility” software and ran a status check. it is showing “SMART status failed”. I’m unable to scan my drive using this “WD drive utility”, also it is recognizing as 0 bytes in my hard disk. can any one helpme to find a solution?

Hello,

Based on the information you have provided i believe the drive has failed. Since you mention that you have important data on it, I recommend you try using a data recovery software if that does not work then you could contact a data recovery company.

I have a brand new Passport Ultra and experience the same - detected in “devices…”, but not present in “my computer”.

The drive passes the “Quick Drive Test” but not erasure. Also when creating a backup plan ens with “No writable partition found”.

That’s odd. What operating system are you using?

Hi,
I have the same problem as PRANAY_DEEPU: my system is detecting in the “device drivers and printers” section but i’m unable to see the drive in “My computer”. I used “WD drive utility” software and ran a status check. it is showing “SMART status failed”. I’m unable to scan my drive using this “WD drive utility”, also it is recognizing as 0 bytes in my hard disk
Any suggestions?, is the external drive KO?
I forgot to mention my OS is windows 10.

If its recognizing at 0 bytes, I would recommend you set up a return with WD. If you need the data recovered we can try a few more DIY things.
