Time Machine hangs due to WD Smartware locking drive

Hi

We’re trying to use Time Machine (MacBook) to backup onto a WD external drive.

It regularly hangs and fails, because Smartware is locking the drive. We tried uninstalling Smartware, but it still locks up. We have to run Unlocker to release the lock to allow Time Machine to continue to function.

We tried locking Time Machine to prevent the settings being changed, but no luck.

Any idea how to stop this happening?

You may reinstall SmartWare and remove the password protection from the Drive Settings.
