I have WD Blue 500GB PC SSD installed and everything seems to be working properly. With the Western Digital SSD Dashboard – 2.3.3.0 installed, it puts out a result of “The S.M.A.R.T Diagnostic Test failed.” Should I be concerned? Or, is this a bug in the Dashboard software?

it could be a temporary issue related to one of the test timing out. Run the extended test and if that fails also I would open a support request and send the SMART log for support to review.
to my knowledge - WD dashboard… whatever the version (latest is 2.3.3.0) … does not work with smart tests- short or long. Since June, I have been through multiple versions of the dashboard (blue SSD 500) … and smart tests all fail. WD - if you look long enough - will lead you to “Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows”… that program will theoretically accomplish the same function the dashboard should. I have used it (Windows 10,64 bit) and as far as I can tell- the program does the smart test

In July sometime, i believe the 2.5.1 version was released and it appears to function as intended with both long and short versions if the SMART test. Similarly, the update function for firmware and dashboard appear to work (not the case with numerous versions prior and already hammered).
As far as the ssd- i would try to work with the disk externally- or at least make sure your system is booting from a different drive. I do not think you can “reformat” if it is the boot or internal drive. For me, success has come from cloning the old drive (or those boot / recovery/ drivers that are essential) to the ssd when it is external to the system.
internal SSD WD 120gb green, thats what im currently using…
the sad thing is people says to update the firmware but it seems dashboard cant do anything on my ssd… cant do smart test etc… the only thing i can do with my ssd is to erase it and thats all
