"The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer"

Okay…
My 3TB My-Book Live outer casing was pretty much mangled but the hdd was in tact with no damage. I’m trying to retrieve all of my video, music, documents etc… and I keep getting the message,“The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.” I’m using a SATA/IDE hdd adapter on a Mac w/OS X El Capitan. Can somebody give me the much needed advice as to how to get this accomplished? THANKS in advance.

You’ll need to install support for EXT3/EXT4 file systems.

So forgive me for asking, what do I do “google” support for EXT3/EXT4 file
systems? Or, is there a special place/website I could down load some sort
of conversion tool/software from.
